It is COLD. Outside is slippery and treacherous. Everyone is still skint after the long month of doom that was January. Time to get some hot chocolate, your favourite people and curl up with the TV. Here are my Netflix picks for February.
MAGIC MIKE XXL
Magic Mike XXL is coming to UK Netflix on Tuesday 13th February. I will be watching, and if you want to know why then please revisit Roxane Gay’s amazing review here.
Season 3 of the show I genuinely recommended to my psychiatrist is finishing up on Netflix this month. I have become very invested in this show and talk to my friends about what might be best for Rebecca, Heather and Paula as well as some very intense conversations about Nathaniel (who I LOVE). If you have not yet done so then please watch from the beginning and get to know Rebecca and the people of West Covina, California (and be prepared for some great songs).
Shakespeare in Love
February is apparently the month of love. I tend to ignore that as, more importantly, it is the month of MY BIRTHDAY (ahem). So why not cuddle up with your loved ones and watch Shakespeare be all handsome and in love with a woman pretending to be a boy. If it all gets a bit too schmaltzy you can always stop and watch Upstart Crow instead.
I have not yet watched this but the hype makes it look worth a shout. If you are not already sick of the current dystopia you might enjoy this new Netflix original set in a dystopian future. From the video and stills, I have seen this future has a lot of visual similarity to Blade Runner, which is no bad thing and the story of a man whose consciousness has been moved to another body searching for his own killer has the potential to be fascinating.
